An Honest In Between Progress Update
The Kickstarter, the September 29 release, and what happens if we don't reach our goal.
I’ve started working through Book 2 of The Seance Society and deciding what my revision strategy is going to be. But I’ve hit a bit of a wall, so I decided to take a break and talk about Book 1 for a moment.
The Kickstarter (yeah, yeah, I know!) for In Between is more than halfway over, and we’re currently at 28% funded.
If you’re unfamiliar with Kickstarter, the campaign is all-or-nothing. If we don’t reach our funding goal by August 6, no money changes hands. No one is charged, and I don’t receive any of the pledged funds.
What does that mean for In Between (heh, that rhymed)?
A few things.
Yes, it will still be published.
But…
Here’s the thing. I could throw In Between up on Amazon with what I’ve already invested in it and call it a day. But I want to give you the best possible version of Annabelle and Will’s story.
That means completing the final rounds of professional editing, preparing the book for publication, producing advanced copies, and getting those copies into readers’ hands early enough to build reviews and word of mouth before release.
That final stretch is what the Kickstarter is meant to fund.
I had hoped to get the book into readers’ hands in time for Spooky Season. If we don’t reach our goal, the September 29th release date won’t happen. In Between will still be published, but I’ll have to cover the remaining costs myself over time. That means delaying the release and scaling back my planned print distribution—including how many copies I can place in local bookstores.
So, if you’ve been thinking about backing the campaign, now is the time. Rewards start at just $5. That gets you the eBook version of In Between (hint: if you wait until it’s published, it’ll cost you $10). Every pledge brings Annabelle and Will closer to their September 29 debut. And I cannot wait for you to meet them.
Already backed? First, THANK YOU! Second, please send the campaign directly to one friend who loves ghosts, mysteries, impossible romance, or prickly heroines. Sharing a post helps, but a personal recommendation can make all the difference.
The campaign (←click there) ends August 6. Let’s not leave In Between stuck…well, in between.
